A Junior Program for at the Green Lake Community Center, Seattle. Call 206-366-0198 for more information |
| When: | Saturday, 7pm-8:30pm |
| Who: |
7 to 9 year old kids interested in the super fun game of table tennis. You should be at least 42 inches in height. You should be able to focus on group activities for 90 minutes. Maximum 20. |
| Why: |
7 to 9 years of age is the ideal time to start kids in the sport of
table tennis. Through table tennis, young athletes develop important motor (feet-hand-eye-ball coordination) and social skills (it's no fun without cooperation; and a little competition too) and learn key life lessons (discipline and practice can be fun too, and they do lead to improvement and success). It is very wholesome.
We aim to provide a high-quality technical program which can be the
foundation for a lifetime sport, in the form of a fun, weekly kids'
program large enough to support a peer-group community that attracts
kids back over the long term, for their friends as much as for the
game. | What: |
Skills development through group coaching and supervised practice & drills. Effective strokes, serve and return of serve, footwork, tactics, and equipment. Quality practice time. Syllabus for the 10-week class held earlier: www.tomveatch.com/tt/glttc.plan.html This program is compatible with private lessons from other coaches; we welcome their practice suggestions. |
