Framing-Rough Carpentry Scope: 1. Provide all labor, hand tools, equipment (including safety equipment), supervision, supplies, and other incidentals necessary to install the rough carpentry work and perform all such work in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, addenda, and other documents that make up the contract documents but not limited to the following: a. Framing including walls, floors, decking, trusses, furring, dropped ceiling, soffit, balcony, wood stairs, and platforms needed for hot water heater and air handlers b. Blocking and firestopping necessary for quality framing and securing all hanging and recessed devices such as cabinets, fixtures, handrails, stairs, and tubs c. Blocking as required by the building inspector and the installation of drywall d. Sheathing for floor, roof, and walls e. Shear walls f. Exterior rigid board insulation g. Exterior soffit trim and cornice h. Dry-in roofing felt i. Connectors, straps, anchors, and other devices required for earthquake and hurricane code compliance 2. Frame walls level. If slab is out of level, meet with project superintendent before starting work. 3. Frame door and window openings to acceptable tolerance in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations. 4. Provide any equipment necessary to hoist materials for this work. 5. Provide all necessary fastening devices such as nails, shots, and pins. 6. Use coated or galvanized devices exposed to weather or touching cedar or redwood in accordance with the American Plywood Association or the Western Cedar Association. 7. Coordinate with the drywall contractor the placement of all firestops, smokestops, and fire-rated walls and floors, and to assure all required blocking is installed properly. 8. Coordinate the work sequences with the drywall and mechanical trades. 9. Clean up all materials resulting from the work and remove from the site. Optional Scope Items: 10. Install all siding and exterior trim for cornice, fascia, soffits, railings, windows, doors, and trim (included in Carpentry-Siding). 11. Install all exterior doors, thresholds, sliding glass doors, windows, and screens. 12. Install all rigid board and insulation sheathing (included in Carpentry-Siding). Exclusions: 1. Except as noted, materials paid for by others 2. Masonry ties 3. Finish hardware 4. Exterior siding 5. Windows and exterior doors
