Masonry-Concrete Masonry Units Scope: 1. Provide all labor, hand tools, equipment (including safety equipment), supervision, supplies, and other incidentals necessary to install the concrete masonry unit (CMU) work and perform all such work in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, addenda, and other documents that make up the contract documents but not limited to the following: a. CMU walls, columns, and pilasters b. Concrete block, precast lentils, headers, sills, and related concrete units needed for a complete system c. Poured-in-place bond beams d. Mortar, colored mortar, and additives e. Water repellent coatings on CMU f. Waterproofing and dampproofing coatings on CMU g. Embedded items including flashing, expansion joints, ties, bolts, anchors, and necessary incidentals in masonry or concrete h. Grouting concrete and embedded reinforcing steel for lintels, headers, tie beams, pilasters, columns, and reinforced filled cells i. Loose fill insulation placed in the CMU j. Bracing to prevent wall from tipping or falling over 2. Provide all necessary scaffolding and planks. 3. Clean all excess mortar and concrete spillage from all masonry and floors. 4. Provide formwork: a. Excavate any soils needed to install forms and place concrete in this work. b. Erect and remove all formwork. c. Prepare forms to ensure proper quantity of concrete is used. d. Rub and smooth all exposed vertical concrete after stripping. e. Tool finish all exposed edges. 5. Stack all unused units on pallets. Optional Scope Items: 6. Set hollow metal frames in masonry walls (frames supplied by others). 7. Install all metal frames plumb, level, and braced, and prevent from distorting until concrete is sufficiently hardened. Remove spreader bars and braces. Exclusions: 1. Materials paid for by others 2. Brick work
